Insanelygaming’s First E3

I had no idea what to expect when going to E3 this year. All I knew was that I was going to play some pretty rad games, and get to touch some shiny new consoles. The day before E3 begins is known as press conference day, this is when all the big companies reveal what they have to show for the next year of gaming. Little did I know how cool it was to sit at these press conferences live, and experience the feeling of being fully immersed into the video game industry.

Day one of E3 was everything I expected it to be and more. As people are hustling to grab their badges and collect some sweet E3 swag, I was in complete awe of all the cool video game statues, banners and unfortunate booth babes. The outside of the Staples Center in Los Angeles was more than enough to impress me, until we walked onto the show floor. I have never seen so many colorful lights, LCD screens, booths and awesomeness in one room. All of the companies had well designed, intricate and attractive booths that I couldn’t keep my jaw from dropping onto the floor. The culture behind E3 is made up of modern gaming, but it would not be what it is today if it weren’t for retro games. E3 had a dedicated section made up of all the nostalgia you could possibly dream of. It was neat to see all the original consoles and cartridges in their plastic form. Jermaine and I were fangirling over the unreleased “Star Fox 2” cartridge and all the other old consoles that we’ve never heard of before.

When Microsoft and Sony come to E3 you know that they’ll have the biggest booths. This makes people forget about the small indie games and smaller companies that are represented with smaller booths at E3. Chanh, Jermaine and myself didn’t forget about the Indiecade booth. We met up with a small developer earlier in the week who explained to us a game called, “Forsaken Planet.” Richard Bisso, lead producer, explained how the game is simple and goes back to the basics. Richard has so much passion and excitement for Forsaken Planet, that it inspired all of us. Flashy cars, free swag and huge booths are cool and all, but at the end of the day, video games are the reason we came to E3.  People like Richard remind us why we came to LA and show us how passion and excitement turn into one awesome game.

E3 was an amazing first time experience that taught me how to appreciate developers, and the art they create when making video games. This perspective will definitely give me a new eye when playing games from this point on. E3 has always been known to show off flashy and fancy games, but it’s important to not forget the little developers who craft and put together some amazing video game art.

VLOG 75: Find yoself!

I believe finding who you are is one of the most difficult experiences that everyone struggles with at one point in their life.

More often than not, we try to be what others want us to be rather than being ourselves and the end result is an adult in his/her mid 40’s trying to figure why he/she is so unhappy.

Let’s take a step back and try something different. Let’s try being true to ourselves and developing that person instead.

For the majority of my life, I tried to be something that i was not and I was never happy.  It had nothing to do with any force that was outside my locust of control; but it had everything to do with how I felt about myself.

I Felt like I could make everyone laugh and be happy but myself.

Took me quite a few years to realize that if I was just true to who I am no matter the situation or environment I was in, I would always be happier. I didn’t have to carry on this charade of trying to make everyone happy when  doing that made me unhappy.

Let me say this, it’s not wrong for wanting people to love you; however, you should want the important people in your life to love you for the person that you are, not the person who they want you to be.

Be yourself friends and if they don’t like it.

FUCK IT.

Ain’t nothing wrong with you… Something’s wrong with them.
